thinking of changing another outlet for my blog, cos blogger's services kinda bad these days. At least 3 times a day they will have problem of some sort. Uploading pictures is always a chore too. Thing is, have a fond feeling for this blog underneath all the complaints cos it's my first ever blog, and love the blog's name also. wells. we'll see again.

sick @ 1:15 AM

It sucks falling ill, especially having fever. During my healthier times, I sometimes think that falling sick is a blessing in disguise cos you will have people fussing over you and stuff. But whenever I got the virus, this thought will immediately evaporate from my mind. Having high fever brings me headache, giddiness, body aches, and lots of medicine. I'm no good shakes at swallowing medicine (except for small and capsule ones) and present me an antibiotic and my legs will turn jelly. The bad news is that, this time round I earned myself a week's worth of antibiotics, which not only are in larget tablet forms, but also extremely bitter. The best of all, it gives me diarrhea as well! Just today alone, I had 4 episodes of diarrhea and counting. ouch.

aches @ 1:54 AM

Signed up for ABT (abdomen, bum and thigh) course with mom at the sports complex. Initially thought that it'll be slow moving, peaceful and relaxing, like the yoga lessons we did in JJC. But boy, was I wrong. It consisted of aerobics for warm ups, and lots of stretching, bending, twirling which stretched my muscles to the max! I ended up walking home like a lady who have just given birth. ughh. pain. Too long never exercise man. Hopefully after the 12 lessons which I paid for, for the purpose of torturing myself, I will become toned and atheletic looking :D

MacDonald's opendoor @ 11:59 PM

Signed up for the McDonald's opendoor tour, "love the truth about our food". I thought it might be an interesting experience being able to access McDonald's kitchen without being a staff there. No photography was allowed in the kitchens, so no photos taken :( Only this one of the brochure they give us at the starting of the tour.
First stop inside the kitchen is the storage room. It is where they store their food and drinks of course :) I walked into the freezer which is about negative 18 to 23 degrees! Madness and damn cold. But nevertheless, I think the storage area is quite clean and neat. The stuff are arranged onto shelves, with the heaviest things at the bottom. This is very logical for safety reasons.

Next stop is the griller, where they grill the beef patties. They grill the patties when the patties are STILL frozen. wow-ness. And believe it or not, it was cooked within 15 seconds! This griller should be damn hot man. I will never want to cross a McDonald's staff for that.

We saw the deep fryer for the chicken patties and fish patties too. Don't worry - they store and fry the different kind of meats separately.

And of course, how can we miss out the fries deep fryer? They got this tray for collecting the frozen fries. Once you place the tray beneath the freezer storing the frozen fries, the fries will just drop automatically into the tray! Magical kitchen.

The toaster for the bread is VERY hot too. You kind of just drop the bread into the toaster, and it pops out almost immediately, baked a nice shade of golden brown. wooos~ I wish I have this kind of toaster at home, haha.

And if you are wondering how they pass your orders down from the counter, they do so by computerising the system. Once the counter staff key in your orders, your orders will then be reflected on a large LCD screen in the kitchen. The assembly line will then start to assemble your food. There you go, your food freshly made. I don't know how true is that, cos to me, it will be an awfully slow process if there's a long queue. So perhaps, when it is crowded, they just make everything without the orders coming in first? hmmm.

All in all, a very enriching experience in McDonald's kitchen. However, do note that I'm not encouraging everyone to have McDonald's everyday. It is unhealthy. Anything is unhealthy if in excess =p

satinshimmers @ 12:50 AM

I guess a lot of girls would know about the sprouting of online blogshops selling clothes. There are good ones, there are bad ones. Many a time, girls found what they bought from these online botiques do not fit them, or does not look as nice as the pictures shown. It is pretty disappointing waiting for your product to arrive and when it finally did, it is as good as the spare old tees in your wardrobe which you will never wear.

One of my good friends from my jc times decided to venture into the already-saturated market of online blogshops. Needless to say, she is facing some serious competition! But, I must say I quite like the items she brought in to sell. They are stylish and reasonably priced :)) In addition, this friend is a trustworthy person who will never run off with your money without giving you what you are due. So come on down to visit her online boutique @ www.satinshimmers.livejournal.com !

PS: Most of the items in her debut collection are sold out. In order not to lose out, add yourself in her mailing list today :))

The phantom @ 3:26 PM

Was cleaning up my desk and shelves when I came across a rather old piece of poetry I had written when I was in secondary one. It was a rather inexpert poetry as it was the first piece I had wrote. Just for sharing, I type my poem here :)) Please do not judge it too badly, as I mentioned, it was an inexpert piece of poetry, haha.

THE PHANTOM

Do not judge by what you see
for seeing is seldom believing
I may not be pretty
And neither am I smart
But please do be friends with me
For I have a heart of gold.

Looks are but secondary factors
but these are things people treasure;
But I so wonder to myself
doesn't a good heart value more?

Ugliness haunts me from the day I exist
but does not affect me at all
That is to say - physically.
For what matters to me most; I was hurt emotionally.

Terror befouls anyone who saw me
and often, they ran as fast as they could.
For I have a face like a withch
and wide staring bloodshot eyes.
My laughter is like a hyena
my nose pointed and out of shape.
My body plump, my legs thin and short,
I was the monster of them all.

I call myself a phantom
but that is but just a name.
In it contain my anger, fear and depression
For nobody was a friend to me.

People laughed and jeered at me,
others ran for their dear life.
Although I often hope and wish for a true friend,
I knew it was impossible.
Fear gripped people the moment their eyes are on me.
So here I am, lying lonely and friendless
for who is to be blame but me?

Just because I was born a phantom.

A little embarrassed of my amateur work, but I still feel a little upset as I put myself in the shoes of the phantom. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do :)

Recent randoms @ 4:31 PM

If you are wondering what I am up to these days, actually I'm working :)) Sometimes I will be at the clinic being a clinic assistant, other times I will be out helping out with health screening.

Below is the picture I took with Jas during today's health screening. We look kuku clad in gown, mask and gloves (though you can't see our gloved hands). In addition, my hair looks kuku also since it is a must to tie hair. It was actually quite enjoyable to work for this company because the colleagues and the superiors are very friendly and helpful. One of my superiors even drive me to work and also treat me lunch, haha. That's how good they are. And also, they can chat with you about all kinds of things which are not work-related. I can feel no airs around the superiors. Colleagues wise, most of the people doing health screening are around my age, so can somehow communicate well :) However, for the clinic, mostly is aunties work there, and they can get rather impatient with me. Well, I got lots to learn, so I won't blame them for being a little harsher.

To side-track a bit, I must advertise a little about my mom's chicken wings. She makes the best chicken wings around, seriously! Maybe it's because of the way she marinate the chicken wings. Honey, oyster sauce, and some special ingredients which I'm not sure of.

The chicken wings in the oven, baking away :)

The end product - nicely coloured chicken wings. Shades of brown, glistening surface and a little chao-tah, I like :D
Ok, that's all for now. Tired from working...
